Energy Efficient Windows
A lot of heat can be lost through poorly insulated windows, up to 20% in some cases.
Two sheets of glass with a gap between them make up double glazed windows, with triple glazing having three sheets. The gap is around 16mm and acts as an insulating barrier which keeps the heat within the building.

Advantages include:
- A simple and easy way to reduce energy bills and save up to 700kg of CO2 every year and, depending on the size of the building, this could be even more
- The Green Deal will provide grants of up to £10,000 for double glazing for a business owner
- Noise reduction will also be achieved through installing energy efficient windows, as well as stopping condensation problems
- Older buildings with specialist windows are able to also benefit from this technology, with solutions for all types of windows

Windows are given an energy rating from A-G, with A being the most efficient so it is worth checking the rating of your windows, and upgrading to double glazing to save carbon and money.
