Biomass Boilers

Biomass boilers provide either space- or hot-water heating fuelled by plant or waste-based material, which is burnt to provide energy.

A study identified that almost half of the total energy used in domestic heating could be supplied by sustainable UK biomass by 2020 and The UK’s Renewable Energy Strategy (RES) assumes that 49% of the EU 2020 binding target for additional renewable energy will be provided from sustainable biomass. This support from government emphasises the importance of biomass in the future and confidence in the technology.
