Working as an air-conditioning system in reverse, the technology involves an electric motor that pumps a fluid through heat exchangers where it is converted from a liquid to a gas and back again, taking in heat and then giving it out again. An air-source pump consists of two units, one inside and one outside.
Advantages of the technology include:
- The cost of energy is rising and with this trend set to continue, reducing energy bills would be a benefit to any business, achieved due to less energy being required from the grid
- There are many manufacturers of air source heat pumps, enabling you to select from a wide range of sizes and allowing competitive prices.
- Your business’s corporate image can be improved by increasing the environmental values of the organisation, improving public perception
- The non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive will help with the cost of this technology
- Feed-In Tariffs mean you can be paid for generating this clean energy (4.5p per unit of electricity) as well as being paid for any energy exported back to the grid
- Low maintenance technology
