A great deal of information is available on the merits of recycled paper and board and also on stock produced from trees from managed forests. It is not so easy to get to the bottom of their relative merits but the research is convincing – that there is a clear merit in using recycled paper wherever possible.

According to the Waste Resources Action Programme (WRAP) the benefits of using recycled paper are:

  • It is equal in quality to paper from virgin forest sources
  • It is readily available
  • It supports your CSR agenda, demonstrating your organisation is committed to sustainable procurement
  • It diverts waste paper from landfill – recognised as one of the least desirable disposal options
  • It need not cost more
